Summary:
Once the Buddha was born as a little parrot one stormy day a fire broke out in his forest home.
The entire animal there started running to the safe place. The parrot also was flying to the river.
On the way he saw that many animals were unable to go out to the safe area. Suddenly an idea came to his mind.He wanted to save them. He divided the river and flew back over the burning forest. When he saw over the center, he shook his wings.A few small drop of water fell down and they disappeared. The little parrot went on flying toward the river and black over the forest again and again. His feet became black by burning. His legs were slightly burn. His lung ached. His eyes were red.But still he went on. At that time some gods were watching all this from their palaces in the sky. They said that the foolish bird was trying to put out the burning fire of the forest with the few drop of water, and they laughed. But one of the gods was worried and came to the parrot, changing himself into the golden eagle. He advised the parrot to save his life. Then the parrot replied that he did not need advice, but help.Suddenly the god realized his special power. He felt ashamed because the other gods were laughing and talking although the animal were crying and running.Being like that brave little parrot, he wanted to help. He began to weep. Streams of tear came rolling down his eyes. They were like cooling upon the fire. The flames died down and the smoke began to clear. Wonderfully the tear gives new life to everything. Tree and grass became fresh with green leaves. The parrots were shining with red, green and yellow feathers. The entire animals were surprised. They were whole and well.Their brave was high in the clear blue sky. They gave a shout of joys for their friends and for the wonderful rain.

2) Interpretation:
The narrator is trying to tells us that one should fight for the things one believes whether one has a reasonable chance of success or not.It is our duty to carry out the task, but the result is not in our hand. This story also tells us that the powerful ones laugh at the trouble of other instead of helping them.Only the person who has suffered what suffering is like and he is already to share the trouble.
3) Critical thinking:
We people in the scientific age put forward a lot of question.
Can a man reborn as a parrot? Are gods out there Is it possible for a bird or an animal to speak like a human being? Can a tear drops flow like a streams and put out the fire in the jungle?
It is very difficult for us to accept such things.
4) Assimilation:
This story has touched my heart. While reading the story I identified myself with the brave little parrot.I was anxious to put out the fire myself and I became very happy when the fire extinguish.
Before reading this story my idea is that the great men are entirely unselfish. After reading this story I realized that it is natural for everyone to be selfish act to be end. In the beginning of the story when the fire broke out in the jungle, the little parrot wanted to go to the safety to the river. But seeing the trouble of the other animal, he could not think of saving himself.Beforehand I used know the value of intention. I understood the meaning of the proverb, (Heaven help those who help themselves)
